Why are NGO’s and civil societies so quiet? Dear Editor,
I totally agree with Change Life Zambia Board’s observation on the silence from our opposition party, UPND on the destruction (power pylons in Kafue), arsons and ritual killings.
I would like to bring to the attention of Zambians that neither the Mast nor the outspoken clergies nor NUMSA have ever condemned what is being perpetrated by the enemies of this peaceful nation. But to my surprise, they are calling President Lungu a dictator.
Support laws and not persons. Instead of condemning, they either opt to be silent or not to write about these events.
Why are NGO’s and civil societies so quiet? Are you work in liaison with saboteurs?

MTN ‘stealing’ clients’ air time?
Dear Editor,
I write with dismay the way this airtime provider is stealing airtime from clients.
It is sad that ZICTA has failed to monitor the performance of this service provider.
If you buy any air time worth K10 in the evening, you will always notice that all your airtime is gone the following morning.
This is broad day robbery by this provider. It is a mean service provider which does not plough back into the community but trying to maximise its profits by taking away airtime in a systematic way from its clients. It is ridiculous to have such airtime provider in Zambia.
If you use Airtel and you buy airtime for K10 this amount will be intact but not with MTN.
We shall continue to criticise a useless airtime provider which steals from clients.
Why can’t they use promotions as a way of making more cash from its clients?
Could ZICTA please intervene in this broad day robbery? We are fed up and tired of the same.
MTN management kindly try to minimise this unprofessional way of doing business here in Zambia.

Felix Mungule Insulting Judges
Dear Editor,
Who ever said that one should look before you leap was damn right.
Look at some of the incarcerated people who in their heydays insulted the judges and called them all sorts of names.
Today they are before them trying to prove a point or two. The price of arrogance. Don’t they say that you do not insult a crocodile before you cross the river?
Let them deeply reflect on their lives even as they await their fate in prison. Let them turn to God to help humble them.
God will not let them down after all he seeks after sinners so that we turn away from our bad ways of doing things.
They should stop being arrogant and a Mr “I know it all” Nobody is perfect except God but if we humble ourselves before Him things will become easy and our lives will be filled with everlasting joy.
Let them know that even bad times are good times because a lesson is always learnt from whatever situations we may find ourselves in.
Humility in every situation is the key. Those locked in the jaws of a crocodile have escaped after being calm to the situation.
This is the right time for reflection,God will hear you!

Youths should not indulge in alcohol and drug abuse
Dear Editor,
The high rate at which some youths abuse alcohol and drugs in Zambia is a source of concern.
Youths are supposed to lead very responsible lives all the time. This is because they are perceived as the future leaders.
The reasons that compel this young generation to indulge in alcohol and drug abuse are many and varied.
It can be attributed to peer pressure, frustrations as the majority of them cannot find employment let alone find money to enable them pursue tertiary education among others.
Both female and male youths abuse alcohol and drugs and they don’t heed parental advice on the dangers of abusing these s
The consequences of abusing the above named substances are that they can ruin the health of the abusers and at the same time, prompt them to engage in vices such as crime, prostitution, fighting to mention but a few.
Lack of employment opportunities for the youths cannot be the major cause of abusing alcohol and drugs. In view of the aforesaid, it is imperative that the youths should desist from abusing substances which are a risk to their lives.
The youths should be innovative by venturing into some income generating ventures. Moreover, it goes without saying that an i Youths form the majority of Zambia’s population and they have the potential to contribute positively towards the economic development of the country.

Consider investment opportunities in rural areas
Dear Editor,
Investment is another way of generating income besides someone being in gainful employment.
Both people and corporate entities can invest in various sectors of the economy such as agriculture, manufacturing, mining and tourism.
There is a widely held notion that investment opportunities are only prevalent in urban areas and individuals can only succeed in these areas.
I wish to rebut the above notion because investment and business opportunities are everywhere.
Zambia is known globally as one of the best investment destinations. This is because the country offers conducive investment environment. This is applicable to both local and foreign investors. All things being equal, there is an urgent need for the entrepreneurs and those contemplating to venture into business to explore investment opportunities in the rural areas of our country.
Once investment opportunities in rural areas are explored, the move will reduce rural-urban drift that is people moving from rural to urban areas in search of employment opportunities and other social amenities such as electricity among others.
This is because jobs will be created and these areas will be fully developed.
Investment in rural areas is not debatable. It is high time people considered exploring investment opportunities in these areas.
President Edgar Lungu is on record of encouraging people to invest in rural areas as well due to the potential which is there.
Ultimately, this will contribute to growth domestic product (GDP) and at the same time, it will lead to increased income of the potential investors.
Both the employed and unemployed individuals can invest in rural areas. This is inevitable in that people should have multiple sources of income (MSI).
These can be derived from employment, investment like in shares and business to mention but a few.
