 By OSCAR Malipenga in Mansa

THE Patriotic Front (PF) will not rest until it delivers a quality road network system across Zambia, including Ndundumwezi constituency, President Edgar Lungu has said.

Speaking when he commissioned another 65 kilometres Mansa township roads, the President said it was a clear demonstration of PF’s commitment to develop the road network system in all the provinces.

The 65-km Mansa township roads will be constructed at a cost of US$ 68.98 million by China Henan and China Civil.

He reminded Mansa residents that his administration had embarked on an ambitious journey of connecting Zambia through a quality road network system.

He said the improvement of roads in Mansa would boost the agriculture and tourism opportunities in Luapula Province.

President Lungu also said the rehabilitation of Mansa township roads will not only facelift the district but also facilitate easy movements of goods in the province and internationally.

He said the wear and tear of cars in Mansa and Luapula in general would be minimised.

President Lungu observed that there had been smooth flow of traffic from Kasama to Mansa.

“When I came here you received me very well and I promised to bring you development,” President Lungu said.

He appealed to Mansa residents to avoid vandalism and throwing garbage in drainages.

He told the Mayor to ensure that garbage does not pile up in the district if they wanted the district to be conferred to a city status. “City status cannot come to a place that is dirty,” President Lungu said.

And lLcal Government Minister Vincent Mwale said the upgrading and rehabilitation of township roads was a fulfilment of the 2016 campaign promise.

He said such kind of investment was what the people of Mansa had been longing for.  Mr. Mwale said the township roads will change the face of Manda.

He has since directed the Mansa Municipality to take charge of the project by ensuring that it was a success.
