By Chintu Malambo

MURDER accused Tshiabu Benos who is facing one count of murdering prominent businessman Reeves Malambo yesterday narrated in the Lusaka High Court that Malambo was an abusive man who checked her private parts when he suspected her of cheating.

In this matter, Tshiabu Benos 37, of Ibex Hill, is accused of murdering Mr Malambo, who was also Auto Force proprietor, on 30th January, 30 2017.

Benos is alleged to have stubbed Malambo with a knife after a fight at her home in Ibex Hill.

When the matter came up at the start of her defence, Benos who broke down in the process, testified that on the material day, she and the deceased argued because he suspected her of cheating on him with another man.

The accused who looked emotionally traumatised, told the court that when she got home from her sister in law’s place around 22hrs on January 29 2017, she found Mr Malambo at home waiting for her.

She said he asked her where she had been all day and she explained to him that she had already told him her plans for the day and that he knew she was visiting a sick niece at the university teaching hospital.

Benos told the court that Malambo followed to her room and demanded to check her private parts as he suspected she was sleeping with another man.

But when she refused, he lifted her and hit her against the bedroom wall.

She testified that during the fight, Malambo told her while holding a knife in his hands, that he would cut, deform and kill her so that men could not look at her.

The accused narrated that the two fought for the knife after he cut her on the stomach and wrist.

She said that she got hold of the knife as the deceased continued hitting while carrying her on his left shoulder to throw her on the floor.

Benos told the court that at that moment, she was scared that she would hit her head on the floor and it was at that point that she stabbed him on the right back shoulder.
