By Simon Muntemba IN Kabompo

There is no wamuyayaya (forever) in PF and the party will lead by example through action not by lip service, President Edgar Lungu said yesterday when opening the North Western Provincial Conference.

The President said the ruling Patriotic Front (PF) remains committed to promoting democratic tendencies in Zambia and assured that it was because of those democratic tendencies in PF that all positions in the ruling party were elective.

President Lungu also reassured Zambians that PF would not depart from being a pro-poor party.

President Lungu said this in Kabompo yesterday when he officially opened the North Western PF Provincial conference at Chindikumbidi Hall where PF members were expected to elect those they wanted to represent them in the party structures in the region

“Through this conference, I would like to assure you and the nation at large that we shall never depart from who we are; a pro-poor party,” he said.

The president explained that sometimes, government takes a tough decision but for the benefit of the people just as human bodies sometimes underwent painful surgery to keep the body healthy.

President Lungu further boasted that there was no party in the past or present that had democratic tendencies like the PF.

“This conference is a demonstration that there was no wamuyayaya (forever) in PF. We, in PF lead by example through action not by lip service,” President Lungu said.

The President also called for issue-based politics among political players saying his party did not believe in politics of division and mudslinging.

President Lungu said 53 years after independence, he did not expect Zambians to practice politics of character assassination but issue based politics.

He further urged the PF members in North Western Province to remain United after the elections as one strong family adding that the elections results should not divide them.

The President, however, said the choice of who to elect into party structures was entirely for the lower ranks, but cautioned them against choosing wrong individuals as the party risked being divided.

“Vote for people who will take the party to greater height. There is no room for passengers in PF. You cannot build cities of Gold with men and women of clay,

“If you give us wrong people at lower level, from the constituency and districts, you will end up putting wrong people in provincial leadership,” he said.
