CRITICS of PF mobilisation which has attracted new members should know that politics is a game of numbers, PF fundamentalist Gift Kasaro has charged.
Commenting on the apparentdissent by some long-serving party members over new entrants whom they allege have been taking their jobs, Mr. Kasaro said it was that kind of mentality of not accepting change that led to the PF taking a decade to forming Government and has called for an immediate end to the confusion.
“The biggest weakness most of us long-standing members of the party have is living in our past glory. It’s shameful to mention that to this date, there are people who want to be rewarded for the work they did for the party in 2011 when they did little or nothing in 2015 and 2016 and are doing any single thing for the party now other than wanting to be rewarded for past glory.
“We need to acknowledge the fact that it is because of insufficient numbers that we did not win elections in 2001, 2006, and 2008 and that when the numbers became sufficient by way of versatile people joining the movement, we won elections in 2011,” Mr. Kasaro recounted.
He said while the frustrations over alleged non-recognition may be justified, there was no defence in antagonising newcomers.
“With no shame, I can confess that I am one of the people who are greatly aggrieved about not getting the recognition I deserve in as much as there is nothing equivalent to what I did for the party since its inception and what I do for my party to this date.
“Nevertheless, I know for sure that being antagonistic towards new members joining the party is not the right thing that will help me get the recognition I so much deserve.
“It is about my selfless input and adaptability to the ever-changing political dynamics. It’s important to note that the political dynamics that were at play in 2011 are totally different from those of 2015 and 2016 and are definitely different from those at play between now and 2021,” he said.
He said if late president Michael Sata had allowed the current animosity towards new members, PF would not have formed government and that he would have died as an opposition political party leader.
He added that because of his wide-open arms in welcoming even those people who had wronged him, the PF was in power.
