THE corruption crusade that my government has embarked on is not a witch-hunt or tribal war but meant to recover the country’s lost assets for the benefit of the citizens, President Hakainde Hichilema has said.
And President Hichilema has reiterated his administration’s resolve to deliver a decentralised budget which would see more money being channeled to all the 10 provinces.
According to State House press analyst, Brian Mwiinga, the President said this when he met chiefs Chikwanda and Mukwikile in Muchinga Province yesterday.
The Head of State told the traditional leaders that there was no witch-hunt in the corruption crusade the new dawn Government had embarked on.
“The corruption crusade which is in motion is not tribal but meant to recover all stolen assets to be given back to you, Zambians,” President Hichilema said.
Mr Hichilema who bemoaned the lack of development in Muchinga Province said his administration would address developmental concerns in the region and the rest of the country.
He said that once the government’s national budget was rolled out, unprecedented development would start trickling down to the rural areas and people’s concerns would be addressed amicably.
Meanwhile, the two chiefs have pledged to work with President Hichilema in fostering unity and development for all.
The Head of State was yesterday in Muchinga Province to among others visit burial sites where freedom fighters such as Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe were resting as part of this year’s Independence Commemorations.
He also toured the ZNBC’S provincial studios, inspected the Chambeshi Water Project and Chinsali General Hospital.
