A combination of solid financials and its improved focus on capturing increased business within corporate value chains has availed a chance for the United Bank for Africa Zambia Limited (UBA Zambia) to be awarded 2021 best bank in the country for a second consecutive year.
The institution was awarded the prestigious ‘2021 Bank of the Year’ award by The Banker Magazine, a leading global finance news publication published by Financial Times of London.
The award is a testament to the hard work and strides that the bank has continued to make in enhancing and improving products and services amidst Covid-19, says UBA Zambia Chief Executive Officer, Chinedu Obeta.
Mr Obeta stressed that the challenges and complex environment derived from Covid-19 had changed the way people banked, saying the award therefore indicated the incredible work that the bank was making as it aspired to be a leader in the Zambian market.
“We are grateful for the support received from all our stakeholders, our board of directors, UBA Group, and most importantly our customers.
“As a financial institution, we will continue to churn out innovative, affordable, and accessible products that meet the needs of our clients, whilst offering top-notch customer service through our Customer FIRST Philosophy which puts the needs of our customers at the forefront of all we do,” he said.
Mr Obeta said the bak would continue to innovate and be cognizant of the needs of its stakeholders by offering them superior value.
He also thanked the members of staff for working tirelessly to make a strong UBA brand.
And Middle East and Africa Editor for The Banker, John Everington, explained that a rigorous and highly analytical process was made annually to reach the decision for each Bank of the Year award.
“While several African banks impressed the judges this year, there was no doubt as to the worthiest recipient of the Bank of the Year for Africa – UBA Group – a clear winner across a wide range of criteria.
“UBA has performed impressively across its footprint with a strong financial performance across most of its markets,” Mr Everington said.
