Govt’s multi-sectoral approach impressive – Sanlam

GOVERNMENT acted swiftly in employing a multi-sectorial approach in the fight against COVID-19 pandemic, Sanlam Life Insurance Zambia chief executive officer Godfrey Tenesi has said.
Mr Tenesi has also pledged support to the Zambian Government.
“Remember Sanlam Life Insurance Zambia Limited believes in making life better and wants our people to live longer. We are Indeed your partner in ensuring we build a healthy and stronger Zambia together,’’ he said.
Mr Tenesi said this when his company donated K2 million worth of materials and food stuffs to the Ministry of Health.
Among the materials and food stuffs donated include were 11 intensive care unit beds to be distributed to the 10 provinces, 250 bed sheets, 200 pillow slips, 100 -pillow cases and 100 draw sheets.
Other material were 800 coveralls, 10,000 gloves, 10,000 masks, one million litres of hand sanitizers, 100 bags of mealie meal and 145 packs of rice, weighing 5kg each.
Mr Tenesi said it was his company’s life commitment to giving back to the communities where it operated.
He further said Sanlam Life would be sponsoring free counselling services to a selected number of frontline staff.
“This pandemic has spared no one and we are all affected. I must commend Government for acting swiftly and calling on a multi-sectorial approach to fighting COVID-19 pandemic,” he said.
And in receiving the donation, Health Minister Chitalu Chilufya thanked Sanlam for the timely gesture which he said would go a long way in combating the further spread of the pandemic.
Dr Chilufya urged other insurance companies in Zambia to emulate Sanlam adding that the fight against COVID-19 was not for Government alone.
