GOVERNMENT will issue an advert for the recruitment of 30, 000 teachers on Tuesday April 5, 2022, in all public print and electronic media to invite applications for the recruitment, Minister of Education Douglas Syakalima has said.

Mr Syakalima told parliament yesterday that applicants would be required to apply to district education board secretary’s offices in districts where they wish to be employed through the Zambia Postal services corporation (ZamPost).

He said that the recruitment process had been decentralized to the district level in line with the government’s policy to decentralize all recruitment processes.

Mr Syakalima said this when issued a ministerial statement on the breakdown of the recruitment process for the recruitment for 30, 000 teachers.

He said that ZamPost would be sending messages on mobile as notification phones to the applicants upon receipt of their application as proof of receipt and ZamPoat would also capture all the applications and create a database which would be delivered to the human resource committees at respective districts.

“This is done to allow transparency in the recruitment process,” he said.

Mr Syakalima said that the rationale behind using this system was to cut down on the human interaction between the applicants and the people in charge of the processing of the application to curb corruption and nepotism.

He also said that with all things being equal the schedule for successful applicants would be published on May 7 to 18, 2022.

Mr Syakalima said that the advert on the recruitment would be in the print and electronic media for three days from April 5, 2022 to April 7, 2022.

He said that ZamPost would commence the receiving and delivery of applications on April 5, 2022 to April 15, 2022.

Mr Syakalima said that the recruitment of the 30, 000 teachers would not only be the unfavorable teacher pupil ratio that the public schools had but would also reduce the number of unemployed teachers that were roaming the streets.
