Governance activist Dante Saunders has urged all Zambians to work with president Hakainde Hichilema in his fight against corruption.

Mr Saunders in an interview said it will not be possible for corruption to be thoroughly fought if the people do not stand with the President in his quest to end graft.

He said ending corruption is a very difficult quest which the government has embarked on and it should be supported by every Zambian if it is to come to an end.

Mr Saunders says people should stop calling the police unprofessional and corrupt because the police force has been doing well in executing their duties under the UPND government.

“It is upto us now, as individual if you know about corruption activities take the matter to ACC, DEC.

And I encourage Zambians, we will not be to sort out corruption unless we are all together in this matter. We need to be together, you can’t be alone. “And we can’t allow the President to be alone, we need to show him some support. You cannot expect support from a certain group who are corrupt and they are the one’s opening their mouths everyday,”he said.

Zambia Police assistant spokesperson Danny Mwale said the suspect who is also a Member of Parliament for Malole Constituency is alleged to have sold the motor vehicle, VW GTI Golf registration number BCC 6524 belonging to a woman only identified as Kitenge of Ndola. Mr Mwale said the motor vehicle was given to the suspect after an agreement with the brother to the complainant (Kitenge) for temporal use only as he was working on the suspect’s vehicle which was involved in a Road Traffic Accident last year.

He said the MP, allegedly decided to sell the said vehicle to a man only identified as Musakanya of Lusaka at K60, 000. The actual value of the motor vehicle is said to be K449, 000.

“The matter was reported to Police by the complainant and immediately investigations were instituted which led to the recovery of the vehicle from Mr. Musakanya who after interrogations disclosed that he bought the vehicle from Honourable Kalimi in March this year,” he said. Mr Mwale said Mr Kalimi was detained in Police custody awaiting court appearance.
