CLERGY CONDEMN INDECENT PHOTOS

EVANGELICAL Youth Alliance (EYA) president, Moses Lungu has backed Minister of Religious Affairs, Godfridah Sumaili in condemning individuals in the habit of posting indecent photos on social media platforms.
Ms. Sumaili recently advised those who were in the habit of exposing themselves to stop or face the wrath of the law. She disclosed that her of-fice had received several complaints from the public who appealed to her office to curtail the wicked habit.
Rev. Lungu said that Ms. Sumaili was in order and must be supported by all Zambians who treasure the culture of the land. He said that the condemnation must be embraced by all Zambians because it hinges on national values and principles.
He said morality and ethics were the bedrock of the country’s culture and as such must not be abrogated for any reason whatsoever.
In his view, the condemnation must not be seen as an attack on any individual because the minister was speaking from her position as a gov-ernment official. He insisted that the minister being a government official had the mandate to ensure that the laws of the land were respected.
Zambia, he said, was a sovereign state that had established for itself guidelines for public conduct. He said that these guidelines were based on the long standing cultural values of the land and must be upheld if Zambia was live up to the Christian nation declaration.
And Winning Life Ministries International presiding apostle Anthony Mubanga of Lusaka also supported the condemnation.
He however noted that the condemnation of such acts must not be targeted at individuals and insisted that the minister was being selective in her condemnation of immorality and advised her to be balanced.
Rev. Mubanga said that in as much as exposure of bodies by both men and women is immoral, it must be addressed in a more balanced manner. He pointed out that the country was faced with many immoral conducts which needed equal condemnation.
He was of the view that the ministry of Religious Affairs must provide standardised leadership that condemns all acts of immorality without creating a situation where individuals feel that they were being singled out. He said that all citizens must be respected and advised in a manner that upholds human dignity.
