CHILUFYA, CITY RUN RIOT OVER LEGACY

ZAMBIAN international Prisca Chilufya produced a sensational performance on Monday night, scoring twice as Angel City FC ended their six-game winless run with a commanding 5-2 victory over Boston Legacy at Gillette Stadium.

The Zambian forward was at the heart of Angel City’s attacking display, finding the net once in each half to help her side secure a much-needed victory.

The match burst into life almost immediately, with four goals scored inside the opening 18 minutes.

Ally Sentnor put Angel City ahead in the fifth minute with a powerful strike from just outside the box.

Boston responded three minutes later when Sammy Smith unleashed a long-range effort that bounced off the far post and beyond the reach of Angel City goalkeeper Angelina Anderson.

Angel City restored their lead in the 14th minute through Chilufya, whose effort took a slight deflection before finding its way past Boston goalkeeper Laurel Ivory.

Sveindís Jónsdóttir then extended Angel City’s advantage four minutes later, squeezing a finish through Ivory’s legs from a tight angle.

The goal was Jónsdóttir’s seventh of the season, making her Angel City’s leading scorer.

Chilufya was not finished, however.

The Zambian struck again in the 58th minute, following up her own rebound to complete her brace and put Angel City firmly in control.

Maiara Niehues added a fifth goal for the visitors in the 66th minute, putting the result beyond doubt.

Boston managed a late consolation through Aïssata Traoré in the 88th minute, but it was Angel City who walked away with all three points.

The result sees Angel City improve their record to 8-8-5, while Boston Legacy slipped to 5-12-5 and suffered their fourth consecutive defeat.

For Chilufya, the brace takes her season tally to four goals and one assist, giving her five goal contributions so far this campaign.

After a difficult run of results, Angel City finally found their spark and Chilufya was right at the centre of it.
