NEXT year’s adoptions will be strictly based on performance at all levels and nothing else, Patriotic Front Secretary- General Davies Mwila has warned.
And Mr Mwila has warned that the party leadership will not sit idle and watch people continue exercising indiscipline within the party on the Copperbelt and the country at large.
He is on the Copperbelt to meet the party provincial leadership and address the challenges they were facing.
“The party is bigger than an individual, that is why we as party leadership want to ensure that discipline is restored because without it we will not go anywhere.
“If you are an MP or a councillor and want to be adopted, show us what you have delivered first or you will not be adopted come next year.
Show us what you have done because this time around it will be done on merit not on relations,” Mr Mwila said.
He said it was disappointing to note that even junior members of the party who did not have any history about the party and experience were fighting sitting Members of parliament including Cabinet ministers so that they could be adopted. He said that the party leadership would not hesitate to discipline members and kick out whoever would be found wanting.
Mr Mwila warned that those that were in a hurry to become MPs when they did not have experience but wanted to do it for personal gains would be dealt with going forward.
“We need order in the party. You need to have experience before you start thinking of becoming an MP. There are a lot of positions you can occupy but it seems everyone is in a hurry to become an MP and frustrating the efforts of sitting MPs,” Mr Mwila said.
He warned that those that were trying to undermine or intimidate others within the party would not succeed as the leadership was closely monitoring and watching everything that was happening at all levels.
Mr Mwila warned that whoever would be found campaigning in someone else’s territory would be kicked out without hesitation.
He said he would personally take action on members that harassed cabinet minister in the province in the name of wanting to contest as MPs.
