Accident victims buried

Hundreds of Ndola mourners yesterday thronged the town’s Mitengo Cemetery on Mufulira Road to witness the mass burial of 21 Chibombo bus accidents victims.
The funeral procession led by President Sata who was accompanied by First Lady Christine Kaseba and other senior government officials, brought traffic to a standstill as military personnel transported the bodies to their final resting place.
The funeral procession started off with the holding of mass at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium at around 09.00 hours.
Later President Sata appealed for more road patrols on the main highways in an effort to lessen road carnages.
There was need, he said or Zambia to have more dual carriageways to minimize  traffic accidents which were claiming the lives of Zambians on daily basis.
The 21 were part of the 51 people that perished in one of Zambia’s worst road accidents after the Lusaka bound Post Bus they were travelling in rammed into on coming Congolese truck at Chibombo on Thursday last week.
President Sata has declared a three-day national mourning in honour of the accident victims.
