Cattle rustlers invade Monze
By ANDREW MUKOMA
Monze District has been experiencing a high rate of cattle rustling, a situation which has caused worry.
Southern Province Minister, Edify Hamukale, has thus issued a stern warning to perpetrators that the law would catch up with them.
Dr Hamukale charged that the vice was rampant and that perpetrators were depriving owners of animals, which were a rich resource.
He has called for closer collaboration and support from the local community in fighting the rising cases of cattle rustling, which was threatening the livestock sector.
The Minister was speaking during a stakeholders meeting in Monze at the weekend.
Dr Hamukale directed the Zambia Police and the Department of Wildlife and National Parks to work together to fight cattle theft especially in Chief Hamusonde’ area.
He said that the institutions must work together in order to address the problem.
