THE London trial against former president Frederick Chiluba and others over the Zamtrop case can only be described as a shameful scheme orchestrated by the Task Force on Corruption in collusion with British agents.

This was an overview of one of those close to the former president, who charged that it was about time the people of Zambia realised the despicable conduct of the Task Force and demand for true justice to be served over the matter. The source who sought anonymity has called for through investigations into the actions of the Task Force operations both pre and post the London judgment.

The source explained that in the proper jurisdiction of the Zambian courts, all criminal charges against Dr. Chiluba were dismissed for lack of merit, which subsequently led to his full acquittal before his demise.

They charged that even that decision by the local courts was ignored by the likes of Sullivan and the cartel who refused to accept the verdict of the Zambian court.

Instead they chose to stick to their preferred scheme of plunder from which they made a fortune.

“Obviously Dr. Chiluba has been vindicated in his principled stand not to participate in the sham London trial presided over by a suspected mentally challenged Judge Peter Smith, who has now confirmed everyone’s fears by his final resignation,” it has been observed.

They explained that many objective observers saw it coming a long time ago that Judge Smith would soon fall from grace together with the scandal behind the defunct Task Force on corruption.

Zambians through the fallen Post Newspapers were forced to laud the disgraced London Judge and the Task Force as hero for how they dealt with late president Chiluba in the infamous Zamtrop matter which then president Levy Mwanawasa took to London for prosecution.

Therefore, the inevitable conclusion to make from the recent revelations could only be “that Judge Smith was unfit to hear the Chiluba case in the first place and may have been chosen for the predetermined sole purpose of disgracing Dr. Chiluba.”
