GOVERNMENT should ignore the empty threats from Sherpherd Bushiri because he might just be a frustrated young man who wants to divert people’s attention from real issues, says the Evangelical Fellowship of Zambia (EFZ) executive director Pukuta Mwanza.

Reverend Mwanza said prophet Bushiri has shown his true colours and who he really was by lack of humility which were the fruits of a true Christian, adding that Government should not waste its energy on him.

Reacting to Mr Bushiri’s latest attacks on Copperbelt minister Bowman Lusambo, Rev Mwanza urged the the minister to concentrate on more critical issues affecting Zambians and not to waste time in responding to the Malawian churchman.

Bushiri has dared the Zambian Government to repossess his emerald mine if it so wished, but insisted that he would not apologise for speaking out against Religious Affairs minister Godfridah Sumaili who was chasing away fake prophets from the country.

Bushiri was reacting to a warning from Mr Lusambo who on Sunday warned the prophet that he risked having his mining license revoked if he did not apologise to the Government within seven days.

But the EFZ executive director said Bushiri’s attacks on Rev Sumaili and Mr Lusambo were unacceptable.

He said a true servant of God was always humble and could never use sarcastic language towards people who were much older than him. He said the attacks from Bushiri had exposed him as an undisciplined, self-serving and egoistic young man who had no regard for other country’s laws and regulations.

Rev Mwanza further said it was clear from the behavior that Bushiri had so far exhibited that he was not what he claimed to be.

‘‘True men of God do not use destructive words to curse and hurt others, rather they use constructive language to bless and help them,’’ he said.

The EFZ executive director said Jesus not only taught his followers to learn to forgive and love God as God loves human beings, but also learn to humble themselves and ask for forgiveness.
