PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu should not mind about being recognized as the Head of State because there are more important things to concentrate on than petty issues, says UPND secretary-general Stephen Katuka.

Mr Katuka said President Lungu should not worry being recognized as the Head of State as there were more important things to concentrate on.

Mr Katuka said it would not change anything even if someone stood on top of a mountain and shout “I have recognized.”

He said that the country should move forward and focus on more important things than concentrating on President Lungu being recognized.

He reiterated that a lot of productive time was being lost doing things that did not add any value to livelihoods.

“As a country we should be moving, and moving is not one saying you should recognize me, you also do what, if you don’t recognize me so what. I’m working I’m in my home. Even if you are my child and you say you do not recognize me, so what. I still remain where I am and I remain what I am, finish” Mr. Katuka said.He alluded that President Lungu should continue working as it was not important at this time whether he was recognised or not.

Mr Katuka pointed out that some people also failed to recognise him as a Member of Parliament in his former constituency but that he continued working. “What recognition are they talking about, there are so many people in their whole of hearts who do not recognise even Jesus, and not everyone recognised him. After winning an election even in my own constituency, I had issues in areas where some people did not recognise me as their MP but I continued working, such is life,” he said.  He said even children in some homes refused to recognize their father but he still remained the father.

Mr Katuka charged that the parent in home should be in the forefront to bring peace and harmony. He emphasized that leaders should think of what would add value to the people, not what they were currently engulfed with.
