‘GENERAL MOSQUITO’ WARNS UPND CADRES

By SIMON MUNTEMA

UPND youths should immediately stop using my name to misconduct or abuse other people in the name of being in the ruling party because they risked being arrested, UPND National youth chairperson Gilbert Liswaniso has warned.

Mr Liswaniso popularly known as ‘General Mosquito’, gave the directive to the UPND youths never to get orders from any youth official to perpetuate lawlessness because it was the same behavior which had previously allowed miscommunication and misconduct.

He expressed displeasure on how some UPND cadres, more especially the young ones had been using his name to abuse other people in the name of being in the ruling party.

Mr Liswaniso warned that whoever would be found wanting, would have himself or herself to blame because UPND was a party of laws.

He said that he was ready to be an unpopular youth chairperson for allowing the right thing to happen unlike tolerating lawlessness in order to win support.

Mr Liswaniso warned against misconduct, disorderly and abuse of the public in the name of being in power because doing so would make the party unpopular.

“Many are using my name to abuse other people when I am not aware of any activity and later accuse me of leaving the youths behind when I have been with them to an extent of sacrificing my opportunity to get a position in Government so that I remain with them outside Government,” Mr Liswaniso said.

He explained that UPND was and is a political party with order and whoever misconduct himself or herself must be reliable or accountable for his acts.

Mr Liswaniso further called on the public to be vigilant about those who claim to have been sent by him or other senior officials to confirm with office to avoid being misused.

He however assured all youths in the 156 Constituencies of Zambia that he was on tour to discuss the UPND budget and what UPND government had for them within their Constituencies because Government under President Hakainde Hichilema believed in decentralisation.
