By GIDEON NYENDWA
PATRIOTIC Front members eyeing the party presidency should not hide their ambitions but come out in the open and they will be supported, a member of its central committee, Ms Jean Kapata has said.

Ms. Kapata also announced that the party had concluded its postmortem on the August 12 election loss and that the report would today be handed to PF president, Edgar Lungu.

She said everyone in the party who wishes to stand was welcome because it does not restrict people from exercising their rights.
“They are welcome to stand, there is no need to hide ambitions,” she said.

Former President Edgar Lungu has announced that he was not available to contest the 2026 general election and will step aside to allow new members to take up the leadership of the party and rebrand.

Ms Kapata said all those who wanted to contest were free to do so but they had to convince the people that they were capable of leading the party to victory in 2026.

And Ms Kapata said the committee that was put up by the central committee to do a postmortem on what had led to the loss of the August 12 general elections had concluded their findings
She said the committee was just doing their final touches on the document and it will be ready for submission to the president by today.
“The document and the findings are ready,” she said.
Ms. Kapata said as a party they have not sat idle following the loss of the election that is why they had to do a postmortem to see what had happened and make changes so that the same things are not repeated.

She also urged the members of the party to be patient and hear the findings and recommendations that the committee came up with so the party can pick it up from there.
Ends.
