NESAWU NEGOTIATES FOR MEMBERS REINSTATEMENT AFTER SEPARATION FROM ZESCO

THE National Energy Sector and Allied Workers Union (NESAWU) has managed to negotiate for its members who were separate from the company under political influence to be reinstated.
Union president Geoffrey Mbewe has said that out of all those who were separated, 11 of them have been reported for duty.

“From the 19 who were separated from the company (ZESCO) 11 have been reinstated at Kafue Gorge and Victoria Falls Power Station,” he said.
” Seven have remained for the simple reason of suspension. But the issue is being handled well from the Union and they will soon be back on duty,” Mr Mbewe said.
He was speaking in an interview with the Daily Nation in Livingstone.
“For us as National Energy Sector and Allied Workers Union, 2021 started on a high note and employees had put in a lot to ensure we don’t go down due to Covid-19.
“One issue is that the sector appreciated the workers and because of that, the number of membership has increased,” he said.
“For us as a Union, it is a great achievement and we are hoping to grow more members. Coming to 2022, we are hoping that the upcoming power stations will be completed so that our youths can get employed,” he said.
He said once completed, the power stations will create more jobs for the young ones.
