Extend graft fight to ministers, other public officers, HH told

By KALOBWE BWALYA

PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema should extend investigations and prosecution of corruption cases to serving ministers and other public officers. Operation Young Vote (YOV) executive director Guess Nyirenda has advised.

Mr Nyirenda says the fight against corruption should not only be limited to the opposition members, but include those serving.

In an interview, Mr Nyirenda advised that Government should do things differently from the former ruling party, the Patriotic Front who would protect their supporters regardless of the level of a crime one committed.

He however advised the investigative wings to take advantage of the freedom given to them by the President to investigate and prosecute anyone regardless of their political affiliation.

Mr Nyirenda said if this is not taken seriously the country will continue losing public resources to individuals every time a new administration is in power.

He added that some public officers in other departments need to be queried and investigated by investigative wings as some have acquired questionable wealth.

Mr Nyirenda observed that corruption was not only among ministers, but was also rampant with other public officers which the law enforcers should take note of.
