ACC to grill GBM, WIFE

… daughter and son also summoned

By ADRIAN MWANZA

THE move by the Anti-Corruption Commission to summon my wife and my two youngest children is unfortunate and a sign of how vindictive the current government is, Patriotic Front (PF) Vice Chairman for Mobilisation, Geoffrey Bwalya Mwamba, has said.

Mr Mwamba is today expected to appear before the ACC with his spouse, Chama and son Muma at 09:00 hours.

Mr Mwamba said that the ACC had also requested that his daughter, Thandie, appear again after previously being summoned.

He said this would not be the first time for his son, Muma, as he had already been called to appear before the ACC on Monday.

“Can you imagine that they have included my wife alongside my two children? A clear indication that this is a proper case of persecution,” he said.

He said Muma, who had previously appeared would also appear today separately to be questioned by the ACC.

Mr Mwamba said the move was purely political because most people were still bitter that he had left the UPND and that they wanted to fix him.

“I can confirm that my wife and I are appearing tomorrow (today) while my daughter Thandie and son Muma have already appeared and will do so again tomorrow (today),” he said.

He however said that he was not troubled or bothered by the summons and that he had confidence in the courts of law.

Mr Mwamba said that the courts had shown that they were just and fair and that they would exonerate him and his family.

He said it was unfortunate that the political persecution had continued every time there was   regime change and that this trend needed to be stopped.

“We all know this is a political witch-hunt but what I can assure you is that we are going to cooperate and let justice prevail and at the end of the day the courts of law are going to vindicate us,” he said.

Mr Mwamba said that his family was not intimidated at all because they knew they were not guilty of anything and had no skeletons in the closet.
