Improve border posts infrastructure, govt urged
By ROCHELLE SHARPE
THE Southern Africa Cross Border Traders Association (SACBTA) has called for improved infrastructure at border posts.
Secretary General Jacob Makambwe, said doing so would help facilitate quicker clearance and movement of goods and services.
Mr Makambwe said improved border infrastructure contributes to export earnings as smoother exportation encourages more production.
He said Zambians were discouraged to engage in export trade because of the delays that occur at the border posts.
Mr Makambwe said usually people spend a number of days for the goods to be cleared which is a disadvantage to business.
Mr. Makambwe said the Mchinji-Mwami one stop border post is an example of improved border infrastructure that was created to encourage regional integration.
