‘I have not withdrawn from the PF presidential race’ says Chitalu Chilufya

By NATION REPORTER

PATRIOTIC Front (PF) presidential candidate Chitalu Chilufya refuted claims that he has pulled out of the race for the party presidency.

He said contrary to misinformation that he was no longer in the race for the PF presidency, Dr Chilufya said he was still in it and working hard to be elected into office to take over from former President Edgar Lungu.

Dr Chilufya said his decision to seek the PF presidency was well and deeply entrenched in the core values of what he believed to be the basis of leadership, which was to serve the people.

He said he was speaking to PF structures, elders and the general membership so that he could plan and execute the campaign in a systematic and professional manner within the confines of the party regulations.

“I am,  therefore,  focused on producing and selling a new cadre of leadership that engenders unity, welfare of our people in the party structures and beyond, and critical leadership that offers real alternatives to the people with regards the major issues confronting our people,” he said.

Dr. Chilufya said he was aware of the daunting challenges the people are facing with regard to food insecurity due to high prices of mealie meal and shortage in some places.

He said he was aware of the critical shortage of essential but basic medicines in the hospitals including load shedding, which had not only killed small and medium enterprises but affected households as well as compromising hospital operations. Dr Chilufya said he was worried about the outbreak of the current wave of Covid-19 at a time when the country had a nearly collapsed healthcare system.

He said his campaign was focused on issues bordering on human survival and would not be distracted by unproductive propaganda on the status of his candidature.
