OPPOSITION Golden Party President Jackson Silavwe says there is need for president Hakainde Hichilema to declare Sugilite and Gold a state asset to be mined by the Zambia National service.
Mr Silavwe adds that the traditional Foreign Direct Investments (FDI’s) President Hakainde Hichilema is concentrating on right now end up leaving the country in huge amounts surpassing the initial investments, leaving us poorer and stagnant economically.
He says KCM was bought by Vedanta for $25 million and made hundreds/billions of dollars which they externalized and declared losses to the Government and as such ZNS should mine Sugilite.
Mr Silavwe says to declare Sugilite and Gold National state assets the President will only need a simple majority in Parliament for a bill to be passed into law, hence avoiding the Constitutional two thirds majority which involves the opposition in Parliament and UPND has the numbers to pass any bill in Parliament already.
He says once the President declares gold and sugilite as National assets to be mined by ZNS, GPZ can help him (in National interest) to get that $1 Billion per year if he needs the party’s input further
