AFTER scoring his fifth league goal following FC Rangers 3-1 win over Kilmarnock on Saturday, Chipolopolo striker Fashion Sakala continued with his impressive run by contributing a goal and making two assists in the 4-1 hammering of Hibs on Tuesday.
Sakala’s impressive performance excited Rangers coach Michael Beale who dubbed him as unplayable.
Beale said Sakala who has now scored six goals and six assists in the Scottish League said Fashion is still adapting despite having been in the Scottish league for a while now.
“Fashon is still a young man and although he has been here for a while he is still adapting to the hustle and bustle of Scottish football,” Beale said.
“He was a striker when we signed him but he’s been moved out wide at different times. The system suits us at the moment and away from home when teams come after us he gets space. He always gets chances to score or assist and at times he was unplayable,” he said.
Beale hailed his boys but noted that Rangers could have scored more goals had Hibs not defended well despite the loss.
“We were really poor for one moment – their set play – but after that I thought we were outstanding. We scored four and we could have scored double that and that was down to some of our finishing and their defending,”
“It was the best we’ve been defensively since we were last in Edinburgh against Hearts.”
Meanwhile, Zambian envoys Moses Phiri and Cletus Chama Chota put up a superb show and helped Tanzanian giants Simba SC beat and eliminate Uganda’s representatives in the CAF Champions League, Vipers SC following a 1-0 beating at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium.
Phiri provided the assist as Chama scored the lone goal which propelled Simba to second in Group C of the CAF Champions League with six points, six points behind leaders Raja CA who beat Haroya FC 3-1 on Tuesday and remain unbeaten in Group C with 12 points.
The game was witnessed by Chipolopolo coach Avram Grant who is in Tanzania to monitor the performance of Zambian players as he continues with the assessment of players to call for this month’s crucial back to back AFCON qualifiers against Lesotho.
Zambia will host Lesotho on March 23 at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola before travelling for the reverse fixture which will be played in South Africa on March 26.
