The two Indian firms are Glumex Pharmaceutical MFG Private Limited and Leben Laboratories.

According to a notice dated August 21, 2023, Pharma Plus Limited notified its clients that ZAMRA had directed the pharmaceutical company to recall all medical products and allied substances made by the two Indian from pharmaceutical wholesalers, private and public pharmacies, retail outlets and the general public. The medical products and allied substances have been withdrawn from the Zambian market due to non-compliance with World Health Organisation (WHO) Current Good Manufacturing Practice (CGMP) guidelines.

And ZAMRA public relations officer, Ludovic Mwape said the public would be given a credible feedback when the institution inspectors conclude the recalling process within a 14-day period.

“ The recalling process is still on  so at the moment we should give time for the recall process to end so that is when our inspectors will go now full time to check if there is compliance because they are still following the process,” Mr Mwape said.
