Ms Imboela, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) president says it is disheartening that the new dawn administration has continued to use the police to oppress political opponents in a democratic dispensation.

In an interview with Millennium TV, Ms Imboela said the UPND administration had turned Zambia into a police state because opposition leaders were finding themselves in court on trumped-up charges and were being blocked from exercising their right of assembly.

She added that although there was political persecution under the Patriotic Front government,   the UPND had taken it to an entirely new level.
