ABU champ Mwale to face Kenyan fighter

ALL is set for the African Boxing Union (ABU) Bantamweight championship fight between Zambia’s David Mwale and Kenyan Gabriel Ochieng on April 6.

Speaking during a media briefing held in Lusaka, Mwale said he is ready for the fight as he has been working extra hard in the gym.

Mwale, who defeated South Africa’s Innocent Mantengu last December to win the ABU title said he would do the talking in the ring on April 6.

He added that he will not underrate his opponent who he plans to send into early retirement from the sport.

And Ochieng says he is ready for the ABU fight as he has been working hard to dethrone the Zambian who doubles as a police officer.

Ochieng said it will be serious business when he comes to Zambia as his aim is to claim the ABU Bantamweight crown.

Meanwhile, Oriental Quarries Boxing Promotions manager Christopher Malunga said the boxing stable had managed to raise 90 percent of the budget thanks to sponsors such as Topstar, ZNBC, Big Tree and Castlebet.

Oriental had set a K890, 000 as the budget for the ABU Bantamweight title fight which will be held at Government Complex in Lusaka. – Millennium TV.
