Chipata United suspended coach Zulu

By MICHAEL MIYOBA

FOOTBALL Association of Zambia (FAZ) National Division One League outfit Chipata United FC has suspended head coach Esau Zulu for alleged insubordination.

According to a statement signed by the general secretary Aaron Mwale, Zulu was not cooperating with the club executive committee which he wanted its chairman to dissolve.

The club also accused Zulu of leaking information to the media without permission and going beyond his limit to discuss confidential issues in public, leading to misinformation to the public.

“Chipata United management have finally suspended their head coach Esau Chalo Zulu until further notice,” Mwale said in a statement.

The executive committee has given Zulu seven days to exculpate himself.

Mwale confirmed that Technical Director Kennedy Banda will lead the team in the absence of Zulu.

“Let’s remain united for the good purpose of the club,” Mwale said.

Efforts to get a comment from Zulu proved futile as his phone went unanswered.

Chipata United are in the relegation zone on the National Division One league table where they are 16th on the 18-team log with 16 points from three wins, seven draws and five losses in the first 15 games.
