Government asks Japan to assist with technology to combat climate change

GREEN Economy and Environment Minister Collins Nzovu has appealed to the Japanese government to assist Zambia with technology to combat the negative effects of climate change on Zambians.
Mr Nzovu made the appeal when the Japanese Ambassador to Zambi,a Mr. Takeuchi Kazuyuki paid a courtesy call on him yesterday.
He said Japan had advanced technology that can be employed to fight climate change in Zambia.
Mr Nzovu noted that climate change had greatly affected infrastructure development in the country and emphasised the need to build climate resilient structures to reduce the negative effects of climate change.
He also called for investment in the tourism, agriculture, forestry and energy sectors if the country was to record meaningful economic development.
Mr Kazuyuki pledged his government’s support to combat the negative effects of climate change through technical support.
