UPND cadre sues State, demands K2m compensation

By GRACE CHAILE

A UPND member who was discharged of attempted murder of a PF cadre has filed a lawsuit against the Attorney General, seeking K2 million as damages for false imprisonment and malicious prosecution.

According to a statement of claim filed into the Lusaka High Court, Mr Chola Simwawa alleged that he had an altercation with then ruling PF cadres on his way to check the situation at the UPND secretariat in Kaoma which was attacked and vandalised by the cadres from the ruling party.

He said this was after he had received a phone call from Brigadier Morgan Sitwala informing him that the secretariat was under attack.

Mr Simwawa said the said PF cadres had big sticks and machetes, thus, when they charged at him, he fired three warning shots.CLICK HERE TO READ MORE
