AN Assistant Superintendent at Police Headquarters in Lusaka has told the Lusaka Magistrate Court that he mobilised a group of police officers to handle the riot which took place on Monday 18, September 2023 at the University of Zambia.
Mr. Joseph Ngoma, 52, who was based at Chelstone Police station, told Lusaka magistrate, Trever Kasanda that on September 18, 2023, after knocking around 19:00 hours he received a phone call from UNZA security that the situation at UNZA was not okay as students were matching from their hostels to the roadside burning tires while blocking the road with drums.
