CORRUPTION, nepotism and tribalism have marred the recruitment of officers in the Ministry of Local Government and Rural development, with the Local Covernment Commission offering a job of a Town Clerk at the Lusaka City Council to someone who had failed the interview, sidelining candidates who had marks way above the prescribed threshold.

The Local Government Commission is also said to have doctored the original list of 400 prospective officers who were to be recruited into various city councils, municipalities and district councils and instead created a list that was largely based on corruption, nepotism and tribalism.
