Cancel power export contracts, says Kalaba

WITH industries, both small and large, shutting down due to power rationing, and the country facing extensive load shedding, it is unacceptable for the Zesco Managing Director Mr Victor Mapani to take annual leave, Citizens First president Harry Kalaba has said.

And he said the government must immediately recall those contracts of supplying power to the neighbouring countries to cushion the power outages.

Mr Kalaba said “Our citizens deserve reliable and uninterrupted power supply.  We need power now.”

He however said Zambians are concerned during this critical time that Mr Mapani can decide to go on leave.

He said George Mpombo, then Energy Minister under President Levy Mwanawasa was demoted to Copperbelt Minister for choosing to travel to Paris for an energy meeting when the country was facing a fuel crisis CLICK TO READ MORE
