Avoid arbitrary arrests in graft fight, Bishops urge HH

AVOID arbitrary arrests in the fight against corruption because this could tarnish your image as head of State, the Bishops Council of Zambia, has advised President Hakainde Hichilema.
BCZ General Secretary, Bishop Abel Kaela said President Hichilema should avoid arbitrary arrests in the corruption crusade failure to which the good cause would be rendered useless in the eyes of the Zambian,
The Bishop said as one chosen by God to lead the nation, Mr. Hichilema should be careful in the way he handles the fight against corruption so that innocent people are not incriminated.
“As one appointed as a leader he must be very careful as he fights corruption so that people are not arrested arbitrarily because he has been allowed by God to lead his people therefore he should ensure that no innocent people are caught up in the web,” he said.
He said Zambians would be more pleased by the new dawn government if it manages to lift them out of poverty and as one in charge, he should ensure that whatever decision is made is in the interest of the people and not his own.
Bishop Kaela urged the new dawn government to always remember that they took over the leadership of this nation to improve the economy so that Zambians are given a sigh of relief as they fight corruption.
“His work is to make sure that the livelihood of this nation is conducive to the Zambian people and not for them to continue suffering, so he should do the right thing. He should not look at any little thing and make it big in the fight against corruption, that is not right,” he said.
