SHANGOMBO NEGLECTED

Dear Editor

HELLO Mr President (PeP). Hide my identity and post on my behalf and the entire people of Shangombo constituency.

The thing is I’m always disturbed to see how our leaders are enjoying and happy to see the people of Shangombo languishing in poverty when they are able to offer solutions.

Shangombo has been neglected for so long in terms of development, which has contributed to the poverty level to be very high.

You may ask yourself why this complaint has not been taken to our Member of Parliament. Well the answer is because our MP whom I respect very much has no voice to speak on our behalf as everything has been happening under his watch but no action has ever been taken to help the people.

Fast forward, here in Shangombo we only hear/watch recruitment exercises and appointments happening in the country and people from here they are not considered.

Last year there was teacher recruitment of which none of the people from Shangombo was picked despite having people who qualify and applied for the jobs.

Be it police recruitment or any other which happens at country level our people are never picked.

As a district I’m so proud to announce that we don’t have any standard secondary school but our brothers and sisters are made to compete with learners who have good and nice schools when it comes to national examinations.

Where is equity? I can go on and on citing examples on which our people from Shangombo have been sidelined for so long.

I don’t want to talk about the impassable road to Shangombo as it is well known. If you come to Shangombo you are not going to point any neighbour’s son or daughter who has benefitted either from the recruitments or appointments that have been happening in the country be it in the past or recent.

If you find one then it’s obvious that he/she is coming from the elites who could have taken advantage of the name “Shangombo” despite the local people having taken their children to schools to acquire qualifications.

What is the importance of acquiring these qualifications? Yes, I understand that young people have to be innovative and creative to be job creators but we cannot accept to be tasking our people to create jobs when others are being given jobs.

What is good for a goose must also be good for a gander. The new dawn administration has made appointments but none from Shangombo.

Worse still, positions which were supposed to be given to the people of Shangombo like that of a District Commissioner and the like for example, they had to import people from other districts.

Who did we do wrong that the only time you hear Shangombo being mentioned is when it is cited as the poorest district/constituency in the country.

Could it be because our leaders want to keep Shangombo and its people as an example of the poorest district that it is being neglected like this?

If Shangombo can be remembered as an example, of the poorest district in Zambia, what is so difficulty to remember it and its people in the allocation of developmental activities?

What and when is Shangombo going to be considered for a piece of the national cake? Don’t people of Shangombo deserve development? Speak on our behalf Mr President. We need the new dawn administration to hear our cry.

‘ANONYMOUS.’
