I’M not a fugitive and I will freely report myself to the police for questioning unlike the scenario that has been created that I have been evasive, Chishimba Kambwili has said.

Mr Kambwili said that they had brought the summons and that he was ready to face them on Monday despite not knowing why they called him.

He said it was clear that the UPND was after him from the time they ascended to power but that he was not scared and would face them.

Police have summoned Mr Kambwili to report himself to the police on June 20, 2022 at 09:00 hours for the purpose of inquiries.

According to a call out dated Jane 17, 2022 Dr. Kambwili was supposed to report himself to the Zambia Police headquarters at Crime 1 room 45 on.

The call out was issued and signed by inspector Makukwani and requested the PF aspiring president to report himself to the police on Monday June 20.

“We are going to hear which charge they are going to give me, but you and I know that they have been after me since they won elections as they wanted to slap me with propagating tribalism but the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) quashed it,” he said.

He said that the call out came immediately after being appointed as Member of the Central Committee but that he was ready because he had been detained over 12 times.

And Dr. Kambwili’s lawyers Ferd Jere and Company on June 16, 2022 wrote to the Inspector General of police Mr Lemmy Kajoba suggesting that their client instructed them that on June 15, 2022, there was a story that was circulating on social media entitled “Police looking for Kambwili”.

The letter indicated that there was a story which saying the police had difficulties of effecting a police call out issued on June 14, 2021 on their client.

The lawyers said it was further asserted that their client had been evasive to receive the said call out, thus suggested that he was on the run.

The legal team also said it appeared that the said call out was served on the PF party secretariat and on an unknown residence in Luanshya.

“However, if the above assertions of a call out are true, kindly note that we have instructions to receive it on his behalf. We further reaffirm that our client shall abide by the terms of the call out and is ready to appear,” the legal team indicated.
