POLICE in Mpongwe have arrested a 30-year-old man of Lufwanyama district for allegedly murdering his wife after a drinking spree.
On Thursday around 21: hours, Enock Kapalu is alleged to have used an unknown object to murder Dorothy Kwanga of Lufubu area in Lufwanyama.
Copperbelt Commissioner of police, Peacewell Mweemba said it was reported that the couple went to drink at a local tavern where they spent two hours.
“The couple left the bar around 19:00 hours. Kapalu however returned to the bar alone around 21:00 hours and revealed to the bar owner Andrew Chipayeni that he had killed his wife.
“He asked his friend to follow him so that he could show him where he left his wife lying lifeless on the road after beating her with an unknown object,” Mr Mweemba said
He said the suspect was later apprehended by members of the public before the matter was reported to the police.
He said police officers visited the scene and observed that the body had multiple injuries.
Mr Mweemba said the victim sustained a fractured left arm, cut on the head, multiple bruises on the body, bleeding on the nose and cut on the left side of the abdomen.
