AFRICA remains one despite some northern part of the continent isolating themselves, President Edgar Lungu has said.

President Lungu said no part of Africa should believe it belonged to another continent.

The Presidents said this when he held takes with visiting President of the Sahrawi Arab Democratic Republic Brahim Ghali at State House Yesterday.

“No part of Africa should believe they belong to another continent, Africa is one and we are one people, it doesn’t matter where one comes from,” President Lungu said.

And President Lungu said Zambia was keen on strengthening ties with Sahrawi.

“We need to explore areas of cooperation between Zambia and Sahrawi and work together for the benefit of both our countries,” he said. And Mr Ghali said his country shared similar values. He said Africa symbolised peace, dignity and independence despite the continent still being faced with some challenges.

Mr Ghali who spoke through an interpreter said he would continue working with President Lungu for the benefit and interest of the two peoples.

“We wish to thank Zambian for the hospitality that they showed us. Zambia and Sahrawi had same values and Principles and we are looking forward to working with Zambia,” Mr. Ghali said.

The Sahrawi delegation included the Minister of Foreign Affairs, President of the Sahrawi Women’s League, Minister of Cooperation, Minister of Security and Vice President of the PanAfrican Parliament. And later in the day, Mr. Ghali visited the Presidential burial site at Embassy Park and paid his respects to three late former heads of State – Levy Mwanawasa, Frederick Chiluba and Michael Sata on whose grave he laid wreaths.

The President was accompanied by Foreign Affairs Minister Harry Kalaba and paid his respects to the three late former heads of State Levy Mwanawasa, Fredrick Chiluba and Michael Sata on whose graves he laid wreaths.

He also visited first Republican President Kenneth Kaunda at his residence.

Mr. Ghali is in Zambia for a three day working visit.
