Boy sexually abuses woman 84, to death

AN 84 year old woman of Yenga Village in Chief Kambwali’s area in Nchelenge district has allegedly been murdered after being sexually abused by a 21 year old male of the same village.

According to a statement made available to the Daily Nation by Zambia Police (ZP) public relations officer Esther Katongo, preliminary investigations into the matter revealed that the victim who was living alone, was sexually abused and that her neck squeezed by the assailant.

Ms Katongo disclosed that the incident happened on 18 December, 2016 between 00:10 hours and 05:00 hours at Yenga Village in Chief Kambwali’s area.

She said that the victim died around 11 00 hours from St Pauls’ mission Hospital where she was rushed for medical attention.  Ms Katongo explained the victim was found with blood coming from the nose, bleeding from her private parts and had bruises on the back and neck.

“Preliminary investigations have revealed that the victim who was living alone was sexually abused and had her neck squeezed by the assailant. The incident happened on 18 December, 2016 between 00: 10 hours and 05:00 hours at Yenga Village. The victim was found with blood coming from the nose, bleeding from her private parts and had bruises on the back and neck” she said.

Ms Katongo said that a suspect identified as Fred Mambwe has since been arrested and charged with murder, and that the body of the deceased was lying at St Pauls’ mission Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.

Meanwhile, Ms Katongo also disclosed that 44 years man of Kafukula Village of Chief Tafuna’s area in Mpulungu District was murdered by villagers of the same village after he allegedly attempted to steal two 20 liter empty containers and a 10 Kilogram bag of charcoal from one of the villagers identified as Collins Nkonde.

She explained that Nkonde called for help and that villagers pounced on the accused with sticks and stones, and that he later died.

“The deceased sustained a broken right hand and bruises on the body and has been identified as Kasanza Shilutongwe aged 44. Sticks and stones are alleged to have been used in the act. This happened on 18th December, 2016 around 04 00 hours at Kafukula village.

“Two suspects identified as Collins Nkonde aged 39 and Kapola Sikazwe have been apprehended and are detained in police custody while the body of the deceased is in Mpulungu District Hospital mortuary. Investigations have continued to bring to book other villagers who could have participated in the criminal act” said Ms Katongo.
