A TRADITIONAL leader in Chavuma district has praised Government for improving the road network in his area. Sub chief Sanjongo of the Luvale-speaking people in West bank of Chavuma district said for long time the area has had no passable road connecting Chavuma and the West Bank of Zambezi district. He said residents especially farmers used to find it difficult to transport their produce to the market due to poor road network. “I want to thank Government for thinking of us by giving us this road. Previously, we used to find it very difficult in terms of movement,”  the traditional leader said. He also commended Government for constructing a health post in the area, adding that the facility would help people in his chiefdom to have access to health services. “Apart from that, the area had a challenge of water, but now Government came to our aid by constructing boreholes,” he said. Meanwhile, the traditional leader has appealed to Government to construct additional classroom blocks at Sanjongo Secondary School. He said the population at the school has increased owing to the upgrading of the school into a secondary school. “Right now the school only has four classroom blocks which is making it very difficult for both pupils and teachers to conduct classes,” he said. He also called on the area Member of Parliament to help the school finish a 1×3 classroom block which he said was at roof level. “The project is an initiative by the school management and parents, but unfortunately due to lack of funds, the project has stalled,” he said.
