UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema is a liar for going round telling people that President Edgar Lungu has decided that Zambia will pull out from the International Criminal Court (ICC) when he is still consulting on the matter, Patriotic Front (PF) deputy secretary general Mumbi Phiri has charged.

Ms Phiri said that Mr Hichilema had been spreading falsehoods that President Lungu had decided that Zambia would withdraw her membership of the ICC.

She reiterated that the UPND leader was a liar because the Head of State had not made such a decision as he was still consulting on the way forward.

Ms Phiri said in an interview with the Daily Nation that Mr Hichilema had lied about a lot of things in his political career.

She explained that Mr Hichilema had at one time told the nation that she was distributing money in Livingstone together with the Minister of Justice Given Lubinda, when she was admitted in a Lusaka hospital.

Ms Phiri wondered why Mr Hichilema developed falsehoods that she was distributing money to cadres in Livingstone at the time when she was in hospital.

“Hakainde Hichilema is a liar, now he is telling people that President Lungu has already decided to withdraw the country from the ICC. The President, being law abiding, said he would consult the Zambia people. HH even lied about me that I was dishing out money with Mr Lubinda in Livingstone at the time when I was in hospital here in Lusaka,” she said.

Ms Phiri pointed out that the Zambian people only believed that Mr Hichilema was fond of insulting people, an allegation he had always refused, when he openly castigated a journalist on the national broadcaster. And Ms Phiri warned Mr Hichilema to desist from issuing statements that President Lungu was not the legitimate winner of the last elections.

She said that President Lungu was legally pronounced winner of that election by a mandated institution and that all the organizations that observed the elections had attested to that.
