Livingstone police nab wife killer

POLICE in Livingstone have arrested a 25 year old man of House No. 52 Nottie Broad who allegedly murdered his wife in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Southern Province commissioner of police Bonny Kapeso said  said his men managed to corner Gilbert Sikanda after he fled following stabbing his wife Mulambo on the neck and who later died.

Mr  Kapeso confirmed to the Daily Nation that Sikanda was arrested on Sunday night and was currently admitted at Batoka Hospital after he attempted to commit suicide.

“The murder suspect in Livingstone was arrested last night (Sunday) and is admitted to Batoka Hospital after he attempted to commit suicide when he took poisonous substance,” said Mr Kapeso.

And in another development, a 23 year old man of Dambwa Central in Livingstone has committed suicide.

Mr Kapeso identified the deceased as Friday Musialela of House No. 105, Zambezi Sawmills.

He said that body was found hanging in the house he was renting and police do not suspect any foul play.

“I can confirm the death of Friday Musialela, 23, of Dambwa Central, who committed suicide by hanging himself inside the house he was renting l, House No. 105, Zambezi Sawmills,” he said.

“He died around 06:00 hours yesterday and police do not suspect any foul play. His body was found hanging in the house and later taken to Batoka Hospital mortuary pending post-mortem,” he said.

Meanwhile, Southern Province has not recorded any serious fatal accidents and serious criminal activities during this year’s Easter Holiday.
