LAZ political agenda exposed
Dear Editor,
There was no single word from the Law Association of Zambia (LAZ) when UPND leader Hakainde Hichilema called judges morons and not worthy of the gowns they were wearing.
But there is now a stinging rebuke against Amos Chanda, special assistant to the President who has expressed concern at the political nature of decisions being made by the courts.
Why is LAZ being selective in its responses?
It is the same LAZ which joined forces with the UPND to challenge the tenure of Ministers after Parliament was dissolved. Instead of offering advice, the Association has chosen to politick and be confrontation against the ruling party and its Government.
It is for this reason that I also support the proposal for a parallel legal professional body because LAZ has become too political.
Most people expected LAZ to play a role in fashioning amendment to the Constitution following the debacle of the last elections, but there is no meaningful contribution from this body.
LAZ is doing a great disservice to this country. Instead of helping us develop, it is working towards national fragmentation through political statements that are devoid of logic and sober contemplation.
Time has come when professional institutions should desist from meddling in politics and serve the nation with quality advice that will lead to development, harmony and national stability.

PF interactive forum timely
Dear Editor,
Just when some of us were wondering if the PF was still in-charge of the affairs of our great nation or not, as trendsetters the media team have already come up with an avenue of interacting with the people of Zambia through the media.
Why did we wonder whether the PF was still in-charge of the affairs of this country or not?
The reason was that they seemed to ignore the negative publicity sponsored by the UPND of Hichilema by the media.
What the PF leadership and the media team should realise is that Zambians believe the press without interrogation.
There are many media friends in the PF who know how to handle press issues. Since campaigns are over, Mr Sunday Chanda, Frank Bwalya, Ngosa Simbyakula, Given Lubinda, Kelvin Bwalya Fube and Dora Siliya can now assume the role of mobilisation coordinators and start explaining both party programmes and government projects to Zambians through the media. The UPND is working hard to create acrimony among Zambians through embarrassing propaganda.
It is for this reason that I urge Frank Bwalya and Sunday Chanda to be more proactive.
Yes, many Zambians are frustrated that the cost of living has risen but they would understand if they were explained to on the benefits of the removal of consumption subsidies.
The strong leadership that the President of the Republic of Zambia His Excellency Edgar Chagwa Lungu has shown by taking hard decisions in order to build the future we desire is commendable and must be highlighted by the media. Actually, the PF should just find a way of effectively using the many volunteer experts in many sectors of governance.
Today, PF has a highest number of competent lawyers, economists, entrepreneurs, journalists and men of God to provide guidance on many issues in their ranks and file they just need to be coordinated. Of course, from time to time, the top leadership of the party ought to come on board including the President himself to assure Zambians on their resolve to uplift them out of poverty.
We know that the president diary is strictly structured but allowing him to interact with his people will help him to share their hardships.
Let me take this opportunity to thank Sunday Chanda and the team for organising the interactive forum at which the national chairman of the party Mr Ngosa Simbyakula interacted with the media, this should be structured to be monthly. Let us devise retention strategies to ensure that there is satisfaction in our strongholds before we could move to recruit from the UPND stronghold. Our supporters should not be starved of information on important matters. Majority Zambians have put their hopes and aspirations in the hands of the PF government. No wonder they turned up in numbers to vote when they realised that the very power they had reposed in the PF was threatened by the UPND. If the PF of Edgar Lungu will not deliver to the expectations of Zambians, we are likely to experience a terrible voter apathy in 2021 especially in PF strongholds.
People love PF, the party should just begin to reciprocate, that is the only thing many are complaining about. Leadership is about changing people’s lives.

ECL is President of Zambia, not HH
Dear Editor,
Can someone please explain, especially to HH that Southern Province is very much part of Zambia now being governed by one Edgar Lungu.
We all know that the last elections were probably HH’s last hope to get into State House but for poor organisation and voter mobilisation, it did not
happen.
But to encourage people to recognise him as President of Zambia. Yes, I hear some government offices in this region have the cheek to display his portrait as Head of State instead of that of President Lungu.
Let me advise HH that what is done is done. Kicking and squawking will not take him or the region anywhere.
Let him live with reality –that he is not president of Zambia for now. Just for how long is he going to live in that fantasy world?

Leave Amos Chanda alone
Dear Editor,
The Judicial Allied Workers Union statement rebuking what the Special Assistant for Press Mr. Amos Chanda said on the judiciary cannot go without any comment.
This Union official must understand that many Zambians can easily know if they notice overzealousness in the way some Judges are executing their duties and he must know that understanding the law is not his preserve.
The majority of Zambians are now alive to the laws that govern them.
Please, don’t think we don’t know what is going on in some of these cases that are unfairly discharged.
