Let Ministry of Finance manage  RTSA, ZESCO and Tollgates

Editor,

If councils control toll gates expects the worst from them mismanagement of funds. It will be a pool of honey for them. Look at how they have fail to manage from the little they collect. Councils can’t run RTSA. If you want high accident rates in the country hand it over to councils. But my suggestion is let them be managed by Ministry Of Finance directly.

Mugabe would’ve rebuked Trump

Editor,

I miss former President of Zimbabwe Robert Mugabe. In times like these where the American President Donald Trump feels he is at liberty to racially abuse African nations as shitholes. Surely, Mugabe would have said something to shoot down this trumpet.

Remove cadres from markets

Editor,

The cleaning of the town is a welcome move. When the Zambia Army, Zambia National Service and others finish the cleaning job, PF cadres who are referred to “foot soldiers” will be given orders again to take over payments of  different levies in town which is not good. Let the Council be in charge  of markets and bus stations not these cadres

Bravo RTSA

Editor,

I would like to thank the Road Transport and Safety Agency for the grace period given to motorists to acquire motor vehicle and trailer licences (road tax) and road service licences for the year 2018. Therefore, let us respect RTSA rules and regulations for the betterment of all road users and the nation at large.

Councils can’t handle ZESCO, RTSA and Toll Gates

Editor,

Councils in Zambia have failed to run their own programs such as solid waste management, check points, public toilets in markets and bus stations, township/rural feeder roads and other responsibilities given to them. Firstly they failed to run water affairs in their respective districts not until the Water and Sewerage companies came on board. ZESCO needs serious management not councils. Tollgates money it’s a huge responsibility for councils to handle and vehicle licensing let it remain in the hands of RTSA. Councils are the most corrupt wings of government. Let them clean their towns first. On top they even receive the CDF which is not well used.

Let Chinese respect Zambian laws

Editor,

Where are these Chinese getting the powers to defy ‘authorities’? Just some five weeks ago, the developer of Kalundu Mall was ordered to halt construction but surprisingly, constructions have proceeded. We are on the very verge of losing the rule of law when even foreign developers notice non-existence of the law. In China, laws are really stringent but why they despise ours should be interesting.

HH right on toilet fees

Editor,

HH is right for scraping off of toilet fees in the wake of cholera outbreak in some parts of the country.  Even in the markets and bus stations toilets should be free. If not why do you think toilets are free at all shopping malls? The owners of the shops should bear all the costs because people are buying their products. The same applies to bus operators. They have to bear the costs at bus stations because people pay for the buses. I have toured many developed countries and toilets are free of charge with tissue and hand wash provided.
