RESIDENTS in Lwamakanda area in Solwezi West constituency have risen against their area Member of Parliament Teddy Kasonso of the United Party for National Development (UPND) for allegedly neglecting the area.

Speaking in a walk-in interview yesterday, Lwamakanda Primary School Parents Teachers Association (PTA) chairperson John Kaputu said from the time he was elected MP in August last year, Mr Kasonso has not visited the constituency.

He said there were many challenges in the area which needed the attention of the MP but wondered why the lawmaker had gone into hibernation.

“You can imagine from August last year, our Member of Parliament is nowhere to be seen in the constituency, and we are all wondering what kind of representative we have,” he said.

He said the area needed to be developed but wondered how development would be fostered if their area MP was not visiting the constituency and understand the challenges it was facing.

‘’For example Lwamakanda Primary School does not have enough teachers and we expect the MP to lobby Government so that more teachers are deployed,” he said.

He also said the area was faced with a challenge of poor road network, lack of communication towers and health facilities, among others, which required the effort of their MP if such challenges were to be addressed.
