IT is unfortunate that some people want may to forced through the state police just for them to mask up, Kitwe District Commissioner (DC) Chileshe Bweupe has said.
Mr Bweupe said the high level of irresponsibility by many community members in preventing the spread of Covid-19, was disturbing.
He said it was disappointing that despite the country recording high Covid-19 death rate, people were still disregarding preventive measures.
Mr Mweupe said that residents in many public places especially markets still wanted the Government to use maximum force just for them to mask up.
“This is unfortunate especially that all of us are seeing a rise in both the positive cases recorded and the deaths.
“Such behavior is not only risking the lives of innocent citizens at risk but also putting frontline workers at a very high risk.”
He said Government did not find pleasure seeing citizens dying of preventable diseases, such as the Covid-19.
Mr Mweupe said that the district administration would continue employing various means to ensure that everyone complied with the golden rules of preventing the pandemic.
