THE suspension of the debt swap by the UPND government will burden civil servants with financial stress, PF member Chishimba Kambwili has said.
Mr Kambwili challenged the new regime to state in whose interest it was acting when scrapping debt, which would highly affect the civil servants.
He said in an interview that the stance would have a huge impact on the welfare of civil servants in the country. Mr Kambwili said that he was shocked that Vice-Pesident Mutale Naluango, indicated that Government had suspended the initiative to reconcile issues.
He said the move by the PF regime was aimed at cushioning the civil servants burden as they hahuge debrs in a number of financial institutions. ‘’I sincerely pray that the UPND will not do away with the debt swap because it really meant well for the civil who are really under pressure,’’ he said.
Mr Kambwili said that he hoped it was not a political move just because it was passed by the PF regime. He said the civil servant union bodies needed to speak out and engage the people in authority.
